What Is a Toggle? What Is a Slot?

A toggle is a switch that has two states: on and off. It’s used in computers and many other devices.

In computing, a toggle is a control that allows users to change settings and preferences. It also helps you navigate between different programs.

Toggle switches should look like sliders and use visual cues, such as movement and color, to convey their state change. For example, toggles should be in a red or orange state when they’re on and off.

It’s also a good idea to provide direct labels that describe the current state of the control, rather than simply using “on” and “off.” When creating your labels, be sure to limit the total number of words.

You should also keep in mind that toggles may be confusing to some people, so be careful when choosing colors or other design elements. Low-contrast colors can make it harder for users to see that the toggle is on or off.

Depending on the type of toggle, it’s possible to set an expiration date that prevents it from being flipped on for too long. This makes sense when toggles are only needed for a short period of time.

Permissioning Toggles are a great way to manage features that are only available to certain users, such as premium customers. This toggle should not stick around for more than a few weeks at a time, although it may be able to stay in place for a longer period if the feature is being experimented with and/or debugged.
