Poker is a very popular card game. It has been played in almost every continent. Though there are some rumors that the game originated in Persia, it is most likely that poker evolved in Europe. The first version was probably called poque, from which the English word poker comes. Poque developed alongside other card games, such as the French version of primero, and eventually made its way to the New World via the French settlers. There, it was adopted by the Americans, and eventually, it became widely popular.

Depending on the type of game played, each player must bet an ante. In each betting round, players take turns revealing their hands. The highest hand wins the pot. After the betting phase, players reveal their hands in turn, starting with the person on their right. A good hand is defined as a five-card hand. In each round of poker, players are dealt seven cards, which can vary in number. The best hand, however, is the one with the highest value.
